LaBelle and Anderson Pace Cyclones in Loss to Keystone

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Sophomore Chris LaBelle scored a game-high 23 points but a big first half lifted Keystone College to an 83-66 win over the Centenary University men's basketball team on Wednesday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play.

The Cyclones and Giants battled early as a pair of free throws from freshman Divine Anderson at 14:39 gave the home team an 8-7 edge.

Sophomore Michael Young dropped in a three-pointer at 13:51, which gave Cyclones a 13-8 advantage.

Keystone responded by scoring 29 of the next 36 points in the game and took a 37-20 lead with 2:32 remaining in the half. Jalen Flynn had 10 points for the Giants during that stretch.

Centenary closed the first half on a 7-4 run but Keystone led 41-27 at the break. Anderson scored all seven points during that stretch for the Cyclones.

The two teams traded baskets to start the second half as Flynn's lay-up at 17:14 gave the visitors a 50-30 lead.

Seven straight points from LaBelle pulled the Cyclones to within 13, 50-37 with 14:16 showing on the clock.

The two sides continued to battle as a 7-2 run from the Cyclones made it a 61-46 game with 7:59 showing on the clock. LaBelle had five points during that stretch while Young also had a basket.

Keystone maintained its advantage over the final seven minutes of the contest and secured an 83-66 win.

Keystone shot 51.4 percent from the field in the game and knocked down eight three-pointers. Centenary finished the game shooting 39.7 percent from the field and was 11-for-17 from the foul line. Keystone held a 51-28 advantage in the rebounding battle.

LaBelle finished with 23 points, it was his ninth game this season with 20 or more points scored. He also added five rebounds and three assists. Anderson contributed 15 points while freshman Billy Veras led the Cyclones on the boards with seven.

Flynn led Keystone with 21 points and 13 rebounds.

The Cyclones are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 9 when they host Bryn Athyn at 3 p.m.
