McKenzie Posts Double-Double as Cyclones Fall to Rosemont

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Freshman Jessica McKenzie recorded her fourth double-double of the season but it was not enough as the Centenary University women's basketball team fell to Rosemont College, 75-55 on Thursday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

Rosemont had the hot scoring hand early as a three-pointer from Shawn Dowd gave the Ravens an 11-4 lead with 7:43 showing on the clock. The visitors eventually took a 22-8 lead after 10 minutes of play.

The two teams traded baskets to start the second quarter as a lay-up from McKenzie pulled the Cyclones to within 10, 27-17 with 4:49 showing on the clock.

A three-pointer from freshman Taylor Bossert and a lay-up from junior Dayna Wich allowed Centenary to pull to within nine, 31-22 with 3:24 to go until the half.

A lay-up from Ayanna Thompson with five seconds to go sent the visitors into the half with a 39-28 lead.

The two teams battled on each end of the court to start the third quarter as freshman Victoria Jacobs connected on a three-pointer at 6:01 which made it a 42-31 game.

Ashley Murray made one-of-two from the foul line with 52 seconds to go in the stanza as Rosemont took a 60-39 lead after three quarters of action.

The two teams went back-and-forth in the fourth quarter as Rosemont claimed the 75-55 win.

The Ravens posted a 44.3 field goal percentage in the contest and knocked down seven three-pointers. Centenary finished the game shooting 38.6 percent from the field and was 8-for-13 from the free throw line. Rosemont held a 44-39 edge in the rebounding battle.

McKenzie led the Cyclones with 18 points and 12 rebounds while Bossert contributed 14 points and four assists.

Murray led Rosemont with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The Cyclones have a quick turnaround as they return to the court on Saturday, Jan. 12 to host Notre Dame of Maryland at 1 p.m.
