Giani Montalvo recorded three service aces as the Centenary University volleyball team fell at the City College of New York (CCNY) on Tuesday night.
CCNY scored the first four points of the first set and took an early lead with a 25-15 set victory.
The two teams battled early in the second set and before the Beavers used a 6-1 run to break open a close battle. CCNY eventually took a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-17 set win.
The Cyclones took an early 5-3 lead in the third set on a service ace from junior
Katie Alvarez. CCNY responded with a 6-0 run and took an 11-6 advantage. The Beavers secured the match win with a 25-14 set win.
Montalvo added two kills to go along with her three service aces for the Cyclones. Senior
Melissa Krueger contributed three assists, five digs and a service ace for Centenary.
Nicole Polanco had 11 kills, eight digs and six service aces to lead CCNY.
The Cyclones are back in action on Thursday, Sept. 6 when they travel to William Paterson for a 7 p.m. match.
