HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Junior
Renee Hack broke the school record for career saves as the Centenary University women's lacrosse team fell to Manhattanville College 27-0 on Wednesday afternoon in the season opener for both squads.
Hack, who finished the game with 17 saves now has 308 career saves. That broke
Laura Davis' (2004-07) previous record of 307 saves as a Cyclone.
Manhattanville kept Hack and the Cyclones' defense busy taking 44 shots and scoring 21 goals in the first half of the game.
Carly Weiss scored six goals in the first 30 minutes while
Jenna Nance scored six goals.
Hack made 13 saves during the first 30 minutes of the game.
The Cyclones got off a pair of shots in the second half but were unable to find the back of the net. The Valiants added six second half goals en route to the 27-0.
Hack made four saves in the second half for Centenary.
Bella Marchiselli made three saves to earn the win in goal for Manhattanville. For Hack it was the 18th time in her career that she has recorded double digit saves in a game.
Weiss led Manhattanville with six goals and three assists for nine points and added three ground balls and three draw controls.
Melissa O'Mara contributed six goals with three assists and a game-high 10 draw controls.
Kristin Karszen had two shots, a ground ball and four draw controls for the Cyclones.
The Cyclones will be back in action on Saturday, March 3 as they travel to Bryn Maw for a 1 p.m. game.
