Benoit Powers Women's Soccer to 4-1 Win Over Immaculata

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Senior Amanda Benoit had a pair of goals and a pair of assists to lead the Centenary University women's soccer team to a 4-1 victory over Immaculata University on Monday afternoon.

The win gave the Cyclones their 10th victory of the year. It is the third straight year the Cyclones have won at least 10 games under head coach Kevin Davies and the 11th time in Davies' tenure that the program has won at least 10 games.

Benoit gave the Cyclones an early advantage as she scored her 12th goal of the season off a pass from fellow senior Kara LaPolice at 9:50.

Junior Chloe Christopher pushed the home team advantage to 2-0 at 34:19 as she corralled a cross from Benoit and knocked it home for her 13th goal of the year.

Centenary carried that 2-0 advantage into the half as they held an 8-4 edge in shots in the first 45 minutes.

Both teams had chances early in the second half but neither was able to convert.

Benoit collected her second goal of the day at 70:23 as she controlled a loose ball off a rebound and knocked it home.

Junior Haley Hobbs capped the scoring for the Cyclones with her fourth goal of the year at 77:29. Hobb's goal came off a cross from Benoit.

Immaculata got on the board just over two minutes later as Julia Schumacher slipped one into the back of the net off a scramble in front.

That made the final score 4-1 in favor of the home team.

Freshman Rachel Colt made five saves to pick up her fifth win of the year in net. Maddy Terry made seven saves for Immaculata.

The Cyclones are back in action on Thursday, Oct. 25 as they wrap up the regular season by hosting Clarks Summit at 3 p.m.
