Volleyball Out Digs Saint Joseph's Brooklyn in Nonconference Action

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Centenary University volleyball team finished with a match-high 30 digs on Tuesday night at Saint Joseph's Brooklyn.

The Bears won the first set 25-15, took the second set by a 25-10 margin and closed out the match with a 25-14 third set victory.

Junior Katie Alvarez had three kills and a service ace in the first set to lead the Cyclones. Senior Giani Montalvo had a pair of kills to pull Centenary within two, 9-7 in the set.

Alvarez had a pair of kills and a block assist for the Cyclones in set two.

Centenary used a 4-0 run to tie the third set at 9-9. The Bears responded with an 8-0 run of their own and took the set.

Montalvo had a team-high six kills and three digs for the Cyclones while Alvarez added five kills and three digs. Junior Nicauris Veras contributed seven digs while senior Melissa Krueger had nine assists.

Brianna Marrazzo led Saint Joseph's with 13 kills.

The Cyclones are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 20 when they travel to Clarks Summit for an 11 a.m. match.
