Fullem Notches Three Kills as Volleyball Falls to Delaware Valley


HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Sept. 14, 2017)- Senior Amanda Fullem (Linden, N.J. / Mother Seton) finished with four digs, three kills and three service aces as the Centenary University volleyball team dropped their fourth straight contest to Delaware Valley University, 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-14) on Thursday evening.

Danielle McKelvey finished with 25 assists, six digs and six service aces for the Aggies who improve to 1-3 overall. Junior Melissa Krueger (Long Valley, N.J. / West Morris Central) totaled seven assists and four digs for the Cyclones who fall to 1-5 overall.

DVU controlled the first two sets of the evening, posting hitting percentage's of .391 and .238 for a 2-0 lead entering the third set.

In the third set, both the Cyclones and Aggies traded points in the early part of the set, before Delaware Valley took a 12-8 lead. Centenary rallied behind Fullem who served for four straight points, including three service aces in the process. Centenary held a 13-12 advantage as the Aggies called their first timeout of the evening. DVU regrouped out of the timeout as Kate Woolsey swung the momentum back in their favor with eight points in a row, including four service aces, for a 21-13 lead.

Woolsey finished with eight aces, six kills and six digs, while Kayla Bracken totaled a match-high 10 kills for the Aggies who notched their first victory of the season. Junior Valentina Suzzio (North Haledon, N.J. / Eastern Christian) totaled five digs and two kills, while sophomore Nicci Veras (Newark, N.J. / Shabazz) totaled two kills and freshman Leandra Garcia (Plainfield, N.J. / Central Jersey College Prep) tallied a service ace.

Head Coach Kelsey Walter and the Cyclones will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 21st, hosting the Griffins of Gwynedd-Mercy University in the CSAC opener at 7:00 p.m.
