Chris Snow (Roxbury, N.J. / Roxbury) propelled the Centenary University men's lacrosse team to an 11-6 victory over Rosemont College in their regular season finale on Wednesday evening.
Snow totaled five points along with junior
Michael Muff (Havertown, Pa. / Haverford) for the Cyclones who improve to 7-6 overall and 4-3 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Purnell Summers and Anthony Bottoms both finished with two points for the Ravens who finish the regular season at 5-11 overall and 2-5 in the CSAC.
Centenary and Rosemont each netted three goals apiece in the opening stanza, including Muff, senior
Luke Tremont (Vernon, N.J. / Vernon Township) and junior
Nolan Gottshall (Toms River, N.J. / Toms River East) each scoring a goal for the Cyclones. Despite the game being knotted at 3-3 entering halftime, Centenary outshot Rosemont 21-9 in the first half.
After the Ravens took an early 4-3 lead to open the second half, Centenary regained the lead at 6-4 with goals by Snow, senior
Michael Balsamo (Jackson, N.J. / Jackson Memorial) and Muff. Rosemont cut Centenary's lead back to 6-5 with a
Dan Bowden goal at the 4:11 mark in the third. Tremont would net his second goal of the evening that stretched the Cyclones lead back to 7-5 with just over a minute to play in the third. In the fourth, the Cyclones pulled away for good by scoring four of the final five goals, including two from Snow and one from Gottshall. Junior
Spencer Stachowiak (Bel Air, Md. / Bel Air) capped off the evening for Centenary by netting his first goal of the season with 19 seconds remaining.
Snow finished with two groundballs and two caused turnovers, while Muff tallied two groundballs. Freshman
Chris Howell (Bear, Del. / Delaware Military Academy) went 13-for-20 on faceoffs and scooped up 10 groundballs, while sophomore
Chris Cameron (Waldwick, N.J. / Waldwick) made six saves in 60 minutes of work between the pipes. Junior
Kyle Purcell (Islip, N.Y. / Islip) and freshman
Nick Bogert (Islip Terrace, N.Y. / St. John the Baptist) both totaled four groundballs and a caused turnover, while Balsamo tallied four groundballs.
