Men’s Basketball Snaps Losing Streak with Victory over Clarks Summit


CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. (Jan. 25, 2017) – Sophomore Jake Logue (Manahawkin, N.J. / Southern Regional) finished with 16 points, five rebounds, two blocks and two steals as the Centenary University men's basketball team snapped a two game losing streak with a 79-59 victory over Clarks Summit on Wednesday evening.

Senior Paul Jones (Trenton, N.J. / Ewing) finished with 10 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Cyclones who improve to 10-8 overall and 6-5 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Kyron Jones totaled 20 points for the Defenders who fall to 1-17 overall and 0-6 in the CSAC.

Junior Rashaan Spencer (Hackettstown, N.J. / Mount Olive) scored 11 of his 16 points in the first half as the Cyclones posted a 46.9% shooting percentage from the floor and opened the game on a 24-5 run to propel Centenary to a 35-19 halftime advantage.

In the second half, Jones exploded for 16 points as CSU posted a 50.0% field goal percentage. The Cyclones continued their strong shooting as well by stretching their halftime lead to the largest of the game at 60-32.

Spencer added six rebounds and two steals, while senior Zachary Duymich (Millstone Township, N.J. / Allentown) posted 10 points, five assists and four rebounds. Senior Kyle Smith (Warwick, N.Y. / Burke Catholic) and sophomore Tom Weiler (Old Bridge, N.J. / Bishop George Ahr) both chipped in eight points, along with six points and six rebounds for senior Justen Davis (Edison, N.J. / Wardlaw-Hartridge). Antwan Bradley and John McCloskey both added 12 points for the Defenders in the loss.

Head Coach Tim Fusina and the Cyclones will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 28th, hosting the Cavaliers of Cabrini University at 4:00 p.m.
