Volleyball Swept in Tri-Match


HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Sept. 17, 2016) - The Centenary University volleyball team dropped contests to Manhattanville College and Notre Dame of Maryland University in a Tri-Match at the John M. Reeves Student Recreation Center on Saturday.

Manhattanville 3, Centenary 0
In the opening match, the Valiants posted double digit kills in each set and 21 aces in a 3-0 rout of the Cyclones.  Sophomore Zoey Woody (North Brunswick, N.J. / North Brunswick) finished six assists and five digs, while junior Amanda Fullem (Linden, N.J. / Mother Seton) added four digs and two kills. Megan Quinabo totaled 26 assists, while both Laura LiVolsi and Kerry Mackey finished nine kills.

Notre Dame (MD) 3, Centenary 0
In the closing match, senior Na'imah Spells (Irvington, N.J. / Irvington) recorded 10 digs as the Cyclones dropped a hard fought match to the Gators, 3-0. Fullem finished with eight digs, three kills and three aces, while Woody tallied eight assists, six digs and three aces as the Cyclones wrapped up the afternoon at 1-10 overall. Cassidy Keller finished with seven kills and three blocks, while Jamie Reyes recorded 22 assists.

Despite the numbers, the Cyclones had the Gators within reach midway through each set before Notre Dame pulled away late. In set two, Fullem recorded back-to-back aces as the Cyclones held their largest lead of the match at 6-2. Notre Dame was spurred on by Jamie Reyes who allowed the Gators to regain the lead at 19-13 later in the set.

Head Coach Kelsey Walter and the Cyclones will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 22 in Radnor, Pa. against the Cavaliers of Cabrini University at 7:00 p.m.
