Nick Daniele (Colts Neck, N.J. / Red Bank Catholic) and sophomore
Michael Caprari (Candor, N.Y. / Owego Free Academy) each hit a homerun as the Centenary College baseball team defeated Marywood University, 12-2 ,in the series opener. The Cyclones improve to 15-10 overall and 5-5 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. The Pacers fall to 9-15 overall and 1-9 in the CSAC.
Centenary actually trailed 1-0 entering the fifth, when Caprari hit a two run bomb that put the Cyclones in front for the first time at 2-1. Caprari along with sophomore
Sean Donovan (Howell, N.J./Howell) helped extend the Cyclones lead to 4-1 in the seventh with back-to-back RBI's.
Centenary built upon that lead in the eighth with eight runs on five runs, including a two RBI single by Caprari and a home run by Daniele, to give the Cyclones a 12-1 lead. In fact, Daniele homer tied him with Nigel Archibald for the longest hitting streak in school history. The last time Daniele went hitless was in the 2-1 victory over FDU-Florham on Mar. 6.
Sophomore
James Graziani (Martinsville, N.J. / Bridgewater – Raritan) improved to 3-4 with his best outing of the season. He went 8.0 innings with two strikeouts, one earned run and no walks. Graziani was able to get the Pacers to hit into four double plays, including a 1-6-3 line drive with sophomore
John Tierney (West Milford, N.J. / West Milford) and senior
Chris Ohlweiler (Verona, N.J. / Verona) to end the seventh.
Caprari finished 2-for-3 with five RBI's and two runs scored, while Daniele went 1-for-4 with two runs scored. Senior
Nick Koffel (Perkiomenville, Pa. / Perkiomen Valley) finished 3-for-4 with a run scored, while Donovan went 1-for-2 with three runs scored.

Scott Kushner and the Cyclones will return to action tomorrow, Saturday Apr. 23 in Scranton, Pa. against the Pacers of Marywood University at 12:00 p.m.
