George Collects Double-Double as Women’s Basketball Falls to Drew


MADISON, N.J. (Dec. 8, 2016)- Senior Mallory George (Berkeley Heights, N.J. / Governor Livingston) finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds as the Centenary University women's basketball team snapped a four-game winning streak with a 51-40 loss to Drew University on Thursday evening.

Sam Lane finished with 21 points and 15 rebounds for the Rangers who improve to 3-4 overall. Junior Amber Reisenwitz (Cresco, Pa. / Pocono Mountain East) grabbed nine rebounds and scored five points for the Cyclones who fall to 6-2 overall.

Centenary struggled to shoot the ball from the opening tip, posting a 25.5% field goal percentage for the game. George scored 10 of her 16 points in a low-scoring first half that saw Drew hold a 21-19 advantage at halftime.

In the second half, Lane nailed three triples and totaled 17 points as the Rangers posted a 42.3% field goal percentage. After George and fellow classmate Heather Yaros (Hopatcong, N.J. / Hopatcong) made back-to-back jumpers to even the game at 23-23, Drew used a 13-5 run over the final 6:17 of the third quarter to take a 36-23 lead entering the fourth.

Junior Rachel Edwards (Phillipsburg, N.J. / Phillipsburg) knocked down two triples and finished with six points and three rebounds. Senior Kelsey Barofski (White Township, N.J. / Belvidere) finished with seven points, while Yaros, junior Alexis Wilson (Bayonne, N.J. / Marist) and junior Nicole Cartaino (Midland Park, N.J. / Midland Park) all totaled two points apiece. Ally Raulf totaled 15 points, five rebounds, and four steals, while Michaela Keegan totaled nine points and five rebounds. Lane, Raulf and Keegan each recorded four steals apiece in the victory.

Head Coach Rose Haller and the Cyclones will return to action on Monday, Dec. 12th, hosting the Bloodhounds of John Jay College at 6:00 p.m.
