George Nearly Collects Triple-Double as Women’s Basketball Routs Vaughn


HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Dec. 5, 2016)- Senior Mallory George (Berkeley Heights, N.J. / Governor Livingston) nearly recorded her first career triple-double, finishing with 13 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists as the Centenary University women's basketball team routed Vaughn College, 89-19 on Monday evening.

Junior Rachel Edwards (Phillipsburg, N.J. / Phillipsburg) made three triples and finished with 13 points for the Cyclones who improve to 6-1 overall. Maia Rivers totaled 13 points for the Warriors who remain winless at 0-4.

Centenary overwhelmed Vaughn from the opening tip, as the Cyclones shot 58.8% from the floor and held a 44-8 halftime advantage.
Vaughn only made three field goals and shot 13.6% from the floor in the opening stanza. George led all scorers with 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Edwards totaled nine points, including scoring the first nine points of the game.

In the second half, the starters rested as each Cyclone player logged double digit minutes on the court. Vaughn finished the game with only six made field goals and didn't post double digit points in any quarter.

Senior Heather Yaros (Hopatcong, N.J. / Hopatcong) finished with 13 points, while junior Nicole Cartaino (Midland Park, N.J. / Midland Park) totaled eight points and eight rebounds. Junior Amber Reisenwitz (Cresco, Pa. / Pocono Mountain East) dished out six assists and senior Kelsey Barofski (White Township, N.J. / Belvidere) added six points, three rebounds and two steals.

The freshman class posted some significant numbers in the 70 point victory. Stephanie Jeter (Jersey City, N.J. / Ferris) finished with a career-high eight points and 11 rebounds, while Cailin O'Hara (Doylestown, Pa. / Central Bucks West) added seven points and five rebounds. Dayna Wich (Pompton Lakes, N.J. / Pompton Lakes) posted her first career numbers with six points and three rebounds.

Head Coach Rose Haller and the Cyclones will return to action on Thursday, Dec. 8th in Madison, N.J. against the Rangers of Drew University at 7:00 p.m.
