Mallory George (Berkeley Heights, N.J. / Governor Livingston) finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds as the Centenary University women's basketball team put together a total team effort in the 75-33 victory over PSU-Abington on Saturday afternoon.
Junior
Rachel Edwards (Phillipsburg, N.J. / Phillipsburg) finished with 17 points and connected on two triples for the Cyclones who improve to 2-0 overall. Symantha Marrero finished with seven points and six rebounds for the Nittany Lions who fall to 0-1 overall.
Centenary dominated from the opening tap, as the Nittany Lions were held scoreless in the first quarter. Abington finally scored their first field goal at the 8:12 mark of the second quarter, but was overwhelmed by the Centenary defense and solid ball movement.
Junior
Julia Presant (Cherry Hill, N.J. / Cherry Hill East) finished with 11 points, including connecting on two triples in the first half as Centenary led 38-19 at halftime. The Cyclones extended on their halftime advantage with a 22 point three quarter, which gave them their largest lead of the contest at 67-23 with 7:05 remaining in the fourth.
Senior
Melissa Rabe (Byram, N.J. / Lenape Valley) finished with six points and six rebounds, while junior
Nicole Cartaino (Midland Park, N.J. / Midland Park) added seven points and four rebounds. Freshman
Stephanie Jeter (Jersey City, N.J. / Ferris),
Francesca Marcano (Cresskill, N.J. / Immaculate Conception) and
Cailin O'Hara (Doylestown, Pa. / Central Bucks West) all saw their first action in a Centenary uniform. Jeter posted five points and five rebounds, while Marcano connected on one triple and grabbed a rebound.
