HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Oct. 8, 2016)- Sophomore
Amanda Benoit (Hazlet, N.J. / Raritan) and sophomore
Kara LaPolice (Hopewell, N.J. / Hunterdon Central) each netted a pair of goals to help lead the Centenary University women's soccer team to a 5-1 triumph against Rosemont College in CSAC play on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman
Chloe Christopher (Flemington, N.J. / Hunterdon Central) recorded a trio of assists as the Cyclones improve to 5-6-0 overall and 4-2-0 in the CSAC, while Rosemont falls to 2-10-0 and 2-4-0 in conference play.
Senior
Jessie Sharr (Belvidere, N.J. / Belvidere) got the Cyclones on the board in the 22nd minute as she scored off the Christopher corner kick. LaPolice netted the first of her two goals on the day off an assist from freshman
Brittany Gray (Athol, Mass. / Mahar) in the 33rd minute as Centenary built a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Rosemont trimmed the score down to 2-1 as they tallied their lone goal of the afternoon in the 58th minute. Centenary rallied and closed out the game strong as they netted three goals over a 19-minute stretch late in the second half.
Benoit netted her two goals back to back with her first tally coming in the 63rd minute of play off a double assist from Sharr and Chloe. Benoit added her fourth goal of the season in the 80 minute with Chloe again assisting on the play as Centenary extended to a 4-1 lead. LaPolice capped the scoring on the day as junior
Emily Pizzuto (Flemington, N.J. / Hunterdon Central) assisted on her goal in the 82nd minute, giving the Cyclones a commanding 5-1 lead.
Juniors
Kaitlin Marold (Edison, N.J. / Edison) play all 90 minutes in net as she finished with four saves.
Centenary controlled the action as they held a decisive advantage in shots 32-7 and shots on goal, 20-5.
Head Coach
Kevin Davies and the Cyclones will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 11 as they travel to Immaculata University for a 4 pm conference match.
