Benoit Nets Pair of Goals as Women’s Soccer Blanks Immaculata

IMMACULATA, Pa. (Oct. 12, 2016)- Sophomore Amanda Benoit (Hazlet, N.J. / Raritan) tallied a pair of goals to help lead the Centenary University women's soccer team to a 4-0 shutout against Immaculata University on Wednesday.  

The Cyclones improve to 6-5-0 overall and 5-2-0 in the CSAC, while Immaculata falls to 4-9-0 and 4-3-0 in conference play.

Centenary got on the board early as freshman Chloe Christopher (Flemington, N.J. / Hunterdon Central) scored nine minutes into the game with junior Emily Pizzuto (Flemington, N.J. / Hunterdon Central) assisting on the goal.

The Cyclones tacked on two more first half goals as sophomore Kara LaPolice (Hopewell, N.J. / Hunterdon Central) added to their lead in the 32nd minute. Benoit tallied the first of her two goals in the 35th minute to push the Centenary lead to 3-0 heading into halftime.

Benoit added her second goal of the day as she found the back of the net in the 65th minute with LaPolice earning the assist. The Cyclone held the edge in shots for the game 14-10 and corner kicks 10-3.

Junior Kaitlin Marold (Edison, N.J. / Edison) play all 90 minutes in net as she finished with eight saves.

Head Coach Kevin Davies and the Cyclones will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 15 as they travel to Neumann University for a 12 pm conference match.
