Women’s Soccer Holds Clarks Summit Scoreless


HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Oct. 4, 2016)- Freshman Chloe Christopher (Flemington, N.J. / Hunterdon Central) totaled five points on two goals and one assist as the Centenary University women's soccer team defeated Clarks Summit University, 8-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

Sophomore Amanda Benoit (Hazlet, N.J. / Raritan) totaled two assists and a goal for the Cyclones who improve to 4-6 overall and 3-2 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Emily Reilly and Anna Howell each took a shot for the Defenders who fall to 1-10 overall and 0-5 in the CSAC.

The Cyclones went wire-to-wire in the victory, scoring four goals in each half and totaling 50 shots for the game. Benoit assisted and scored on a goal in the first half as Centenary held a commanding 4-0 lead at halftime.

Christopher opened the second half with back-to-back goals in the 58th and 69th minute.  After assisting on Christopher's second goal, sophomore Kara LaPolice (Hopewell, N.J. / Hunterdon Central) scored a goal of her own in the 75th minute. Centenary closed out the scoring on the afternoon when junior Katerina Albanese (Hillsborough, N.J. / Hillsborough) scored off an assist from fellow classmate Gabriella Kramer (Garfield, N.J. / Garfield).

Sophomore Jessica Benoit (Hazlet, N.J. / Raritan) scored the game-winner and assisted on a goal, while fellow classmate Kristin Karszen (Manorville, N.Y. / Eastport South Manor) and freshman Cassidy Haller (Stroudsburg, Pa / Pocono Mountain East) both scored for the Cyclones as well.

Juniors Kaitlin Marold (Edison, N.J. / Edison) and Taylor Pryslak (Belvidere, N.J. / Belvidere) along with freshman Justine Stefura (Port Reading, N.J. / WoodBridge) combined for 90 minutes in the net for Centenary. Elysia Hinkel made 15 saves in 68:52 for the Defenders.

Head Coach Kevin Davies and the Cyclones will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 8, hosting the Ravens of Rosemont College at 1:00 p.m.
