HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Oct. 3, 2016)- Both the Centenary University men's and women's soccer teams were in action this weekend with the women's team hosting Gwynedd-Mercy University and the men's team traveling to Cabrini University.

Centenary 1, Gwynedd-Mercy 0
The women's team improved to 2-2 in the CSAC with a 1-0 victory over the Griffins of Gwynedd-Mercy University. Junior Jessica Benoit (Hazlet, N.J. / Raritan) scored the game-winner in the 84th minute off an assist from sophomore Amanda Benoit (Hazlet, N.J. / Raritan) and freshman Chloe Christopher (Flemington, N.J. / Hunterdon Central).

The Cyclones edged the Griffins on shots (14-7), shots on goal (5-2) and corner kicks (6-4). Benoit took a game-high four shots, while freshman Cassidy Haller (Stroudsburg, Pa / Pocono Mountain East) and Benoit both added three shots apiece. Lauren Melino took three shots in the loss for the Griffins.  

Head Coach Kevin Davies and the Cyclones will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 4, hosting the Defenders of Clarks Summit University at 4:00 p.m.

Centenary 3, Cabrini 2 (OT)
The men's team remained undefeated in conference play with a 3-2 victory over the Cavaliers of Cabrini University in Radnor, PA. Junior Justin White (Minehill, N.J. / Dover) nailed the penalty kick game-winner in the 93rd minute of overtime.

All of the goal scoring took place in the second half.  White assisted on fellow classmate Richy Castro (Landing, N.J. / Roxbury) go-ahead goal in the 82nd minute. The Cavaliers evened the game at 2-2, just six minutes later when Bobby Kane beat the keeper for the score.

The Cyclones edged the Cavaliers on shots (22-10), shots on goal (10-6) and corner kicks (7-3). White took a match high 10 shots, while Miller tallied four shots apiece. AJ Bishop took a team-high four shots, while CJ Serratore made seven saves in the loss for Cabrini.

Head Coach Keith O'Connor and the Cyclones will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 5, hosting the Monarchs of Kings College (Pa.) at 4:00 p.m.
