HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Oct. 27, 2016) – Sophomore
Amanda Benoit (Hazlet, N.J. / Raritan) totaled four points on two assists and one goal as the Centenary University women's soccer team secured the third seed in the CSAC Tournament with a 5-1 victory over Keystone College on Senior Day.
Sophomore
Kristin Karszen (Manorville, N.Y. / Eastport South Manor) totaled four points on two goals for the Cyclones who improve to 9-8 overall and 8-3 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Hannah Richner scored a goal for the Giants who finish the season at 7-8-1 overall and 4-6-1 in the CSAC.
The Cyclones actually trailed early in the contest, as Richner scored off a loose ball that got away from freshman
Justine Stefura (Port Reading, N.J. / WoodBridge) and rolled into the net for the 1-0 lead in the 7
th minute.
Centenary equalized the game in the 27
th minute, as Benoit played a high looping corner kick to Karszen who headed the ball in for the score. Senior
Jessie Sharr (Belvidere, N.J. / Belvidere) made the most of her senior day by giving Centenary a 2-1 lead in the 37
th minute, as she scored off an assist from freshman
Chloe Christopher (Flemington, N.J. / Hunterdon Central).
Centenary continued to overwhelm the Giants in the opening stanza, as they scored two more goals, including a second goal from Kraszen which came off an assist from Christopher and junior
Emily Pizzuto (Flemington, N.J. / Hunterdon Central). The Cyclones held a 4-1 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Benoit assisted on her second goal of the afternoon with sophomore
Kara LaPolice (Hopewell, N.J. / Hunterdon Central) goal in the 55
th minute.

Jessica Benoit (Hazlet, N.J. / Raritan) took a team-high four shots, while Stefura made three saves. Richner totaled a game-high five shots, while both Kristy Hansen and Nisa Cortes each took two shots apiece.
