Rosemont, PA – The Centenary men's lacrosse team kept their playoff hopes alive by defeating Rosemont College this evening by a final score of 11-7. With the win, the Cyclones improve to 4-9 over and 3-3 in the league, while the Ravens drop to 3-10 on the season and 2-4 in the CSAC.
Rosemont opened the scoring just three minutes in and pushed out to a 4-0 advantage by the 7:12 mark. The Cyclones battled back netting three goals to end the first quarter and added the equalizer just two minutes into the second period.
Trevor Krupinski and
Nolan Gottshall each netted the pair of goals to even things up.
About a minute later, the Ravens scored the last goal of the first half to get back on top and head into the break with a 5-4 lead.
After the break, Centenary took control of the third quarter as brothers,
Nolan Gottshall and
Kenton Gottshall each fired a shot past the goalie as well as
Michael Muff for the 7-5 advantage.
After regaining the lead in the third period, the Cyclones would never relinquish it as they tacked on four more goals in the fourth to keep the game out of reach for the Ravens.
Krupinksi led all scorers with four goals and three assists for seven points, while
Nolan Gottshall and
Michael Muff each tallied three goals apiece.
Kenton Gottshall added one goal and an assist, while
Anthony Biango earned two assists in the contest.
Centenary goalie,
Kevin Switzer made ten stops as well as Raven goalie Paul Kiefer who also had 10 saves.
The Cyclones will stay on the road as they head to La Plume, PA to face Keystone College in their final regular season game April 22
