Cyclones Down Keystone in Season Finale; Clinch Playoff Berth

La Plume, PA – The Centenary College (5-9, 4-3 CSAC) men's lacrosse team closed out the regular season with a Colonial States Athletic Conference win over Keystone College (2-9, 1-6 CSAC) by a final score of 12-4.  With the victory, the Cyclones have clinched a playoff berth and will be the fourth seed in the CSAC Tournament.

In a tight contest throughout the first two periods, the Cyclones came out firing in the second half to dominate the offense while holding the Giants scoreless in the final two quarters.

Centenary pushed out to a 3-0 lead midway through the first period after brother's Kenton and Nolan Gottshall each netted a goal, followed by Michael Muff who finished a shot off a feed from Trevor Krupinski

Keystone ended the Cyclone run scoring two consecutive goals late in the first to get within one (3-2).  Kenton Gottshall quickly answered with his second goal of the period for the 4-2 edge.

The Giants kept the game within reach with a quick score in the second (4-3), but Centenary's James Iwanicki responded a minute later firing a shot in the net off a pass from Muff (5-3).  The Giants would tally another late goal to end the half down by one (5-4).

After the break, both teams were unable to score in the first 10 minutes until Centenary's Anthony Biango netted his first goal of the day off a pass from Nolan Gottshall.  Two minutes later, Nolan Gottshall added to the score as well as Krupinski and Muff in the final minute to amass a 9-4 advantage.

Centenary's momentum continued to keep the Giants out of the goal while Muff and the Gottshall brothers accounted for the final three goals in the (12-4) triumph.

The trio of Michael Muff, Nolan Gottshall and Kenton Gottshall each netted three goals apiece, while Krupinski, Iwanicki and Biango each scored one.

Nolan Gottshall won 11 of 16 face-offs and picked up 10 groundballs, while Kenton Gottshall won 3 of 4 face-offs with six groundballs.

Centenary goalies, Grant Nice and Kevin Switzer split time in the net as Nice came away with seven stops and Switzer with five.
