Hackettstown, NJ – The Centenary College men's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference game to the Mount Saint Mary Knights by final score of 12-11. With the loss, the Cyclones fall to 1-4 overall , while the Knights improve to 3-2 on the season.
Centenary took control of the game from the very start with back-to-back goals from
Kenton Gottshall and
Nolan Gottshall. The knights would get one back before
Trevor Krupinski put the Cyclones up 3-1 with an unassisted goal at the 7:22 mark.
At the 5:53 mark, Mount Saint Mary would answer back with two consecutive goals in a span of 30 seconds to knot the game at three.
The Cyclones would regain the advantage netting seven goals to amass a 10-4 advantage late in the second period. Junior attack man,
Trevor Krupinski led the charge assisting
Anthony Biango's goal and scoring back-to-back goals for the Cyclones.
The knights would end the drought as Dylan DeMeo netted a shot to end the half with a score of 10-5.
The Mount Saint Mary offense took control over the third period scoring the next six goals led by Jake Robinson's three goals to tie things up at 10.
Centenary would take back the lead (11-10) in the fourth after
Nolan Gottshall scored his second goal of the day but the Knights would score two unanswered goals and hold on for the win.
Krupinski finished the day with three goals and one assist, while
Anthony Biango,
Kenton Gottshall and
Nolan Gottshall also tabbed two goals each.
Michael Muff and
James Iwanicki put a score apiece on the scoreboard for the Cyclones.
Knight's Jake Robinson led all scorers with four goals and three assists for nine points.
Centenary returns to the field March 19
th to face Whittier College at 4:00pm.
