Box Score Baltimore, MD – The Centenary College women's basketball team ended the drought with a road win over College of Notre Dame – Maryland, 71-35. With the win, the Cyclones improve to 3-12 overall and 2-4 in CSAC play, while the Gators fall to 4-11 overall and 2-6 in conference.
Centenary took control of the offense from the very beginning amassing a 15 point lead midway through the first half (14-29). The Cyclones were able to maintain the lead going up as much as 18 with just under two minutes to go (18-36).
Sophomore forward,
Mallory George led the charge in the first half scoring 11 points with nine boards.
Midway through the second half, the Cyclones went on a 10-2 run for a 26 point advantage (53-27) to put the game out of reach and notch their second win in conference play.
As a team, the Cyclones stepped up their defensive pressure holding the Gators to 19% shooting from the field and 12% from three point land in the second half. Centenary also controlled the glass outrebounding the Gators 52-38.
Ally Fugnitti tallied a game-high 13 points shooting 5-12 from the field and 3-7 from deep along with three steals. George finished the day with her sixth double-double of the season (11pts / 14 rebounds). Junior guard,
Angela Randle posted a season-high nine points shooting 3-4 from the field and 1-1 from three.
Freshman
Nicole Cartaino added eight points,
Rachel Edwards chipped in seven, while
Taylor Pryslak and
Heather Yaros each added six points respectively.
Julia Presant also added five points in the win.
