Glassboro, N.J. – The Centenary College volleyball team dropped matches to Penn State - Abington and Kenyon College during play on day one of the Rowan Invitational hosted by Rowan University earlier this evening.
The Cyclones fell in three sets to the Nittany Lions (17-25, 24-26, 15-25) and were swept by Kenyon College (7-25, 16-25, 10-25).
The first match for the Cyclones proved to be a tight one, as set two entailed six different lead changes and forced both teams to play on for the two point victory. Match two was a different story as Kenyon College proved to be the top team with a pair of wins to end day one.
Freshman Andrea Martorana led the offense with 10 kills, 11 digs and 5 service aces, while Myriah Cockburn led the defense with 25 digs during the two matches. Setter Na'Imah Spells dished out 20 assists and two service aces for the Cyclones. Cockburn and Brianne Allender also totaled four kills each during both games.
The Cyclones continue play at the Rowan Invitational Saturday morning against Hunter College (10:00 am) and Rowan University (Noon).
