DOYLESTOWN, P.A. - The Cyclones faced their first opponents of the year at the Delaware Valley University Equestrian Center, coming away with an overall fourth place for the team.
Elizabeth Furtkevic had the very first ride of the day, making her dressage debut on "Nimi". A solid, correct ride earned a respectable 67.037% and third place for the pair.
Avery Barwick followed up with her maiden First Level test, earning 68.519% and second place aboard "Ben". In Upper Training,
Alexia Gonzalez and
Emily Laskas both tested on "Maggie", receiving scores of 64.438% and 68.276% and placings of fourth and second place, respectively.
Noelle Telep and
Olivia Minnich had their trips in the sandbox aboard "Bach" for Lower Training. Noelle scored 64.615% for fourth position, while Olivia received a 62.692% for ninth. Last to test were
Karina Green and
Lily Szark on "Breeze"- receiving scores of 65.625% and 66.25% for a respective eighth and ninth places in Introductory.
A new addition this year, Dressage Seat Equitation, ran after testing. Elizabeth Furtkevic rode "Jack" to pin third in First Level, Micaela Calvetti rode "Hank" for a win in Lower Training, and Audrey Schilling rode "Rupert" for fourth in Introductory.
The team was overall fourth in a very tight competition, edged out of second place by just one point. We come away with a clear view of improvements to be made, but a solid team of riders to fight for the rest of the season.
