Purchase, N.Y.: The Centenary University women's soccer team jumped out to an early two-goal lead, but Purchase College rallied in the second half to earn a 2-2 draw on Tuesday evening at Purchase.
The Cyclones (3-7-2) came out firing, striking twice in the opening 11 minutes. Liliana Flores opened the scoring in the 4th minute, finishing off a feed from Lesly Carillo-Garcia as her shot ricocheted off the post and in. Just seven minutes later, Jenna Magrino doubled the advantage after connecting on a pass from Elizabeth Fogarty, with Carillo-Garcia earning her second assist of the day.
Purchase (4-6-1) fought back in the second half, cutting the deficit in the 51st minute. The Panthers continued to press and found the equalizer in the 86th minute.
Centenary outshot Purchase 18-12, holding a 10-6 edge in shots on goal and an 8-3 margin in corner kicks. Goalkeepers Kelby Kaiser and Jessica Smith combined for four saves.
Carillo-Garcia paced the Cyclones with two assists, while Fogarty led the team with seven total shots. Flores and Magrino each netted their 12th and 3rd goals of the season, respectively.
The Cyclones will return to conference play on Saturday, Oct. 18, when they travel to Saint Elizabeth in Atlantic East Conference action. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
