Hackettstown, N.J.: The Centenary University women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw with John Jay College on Wednesday afternoon at J.E. Reeves Jr. Field.
The Bloodhounds opened the scoring in the 18th minute to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. John Jay continued to press throughout the first half, but goalkeeper Emma Ferfecki kept the Cyclones within striking distance with several key saves.
Centenary found the equalizer midway through the second half. In the 65th minute, Senior Alissandra Auletta finished off a feed from Lesly Carillo-Garcia to level the match at 1-1. It was Auletta's second goal of the season.
John Jay finished with a 32–6 edge in total shots, but Ferfecki was outstanding in goal, recording a season-high 14 saves to secure the result for the Cyclones. Centenary's defense stood tall in the final minutes, turning away multiple late opportunities to preserve the tie.
The Cyclones return to action on Saturday, Oct. 4, when they open Atlantic East Conference play on the road at Immaculata University. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
