CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. –
Cameron Fulcher had nine kills on nine attempts to lead the Centenary University volleyball team to it's third straight win, a 3-0 victory at Clarks Summit University on Thursday evening.
The Cyclones won the match 25-5, 25-23 and 25-17.
Centenary got off to a fast start in this one as
Vanessa Pagano had a pair of service aces in an opening 5-0 run.
Jessica Simpson had three service aces in a 14-0 run that gave the visitors a 20-3 advantage. A pair of kills from Fulcher and a service ace from
Asia Logan closed out a 25-5 set win for the Cyclones.
The second set featured eight early ties as the two sides found themselves tied at 11-11. Clarks Summit used a 5-0 run to take a 16-11 edge in the set. The home team led 20-16 following a kill from
Molly Anderson. A kill from Fulcher pulled the Cyclones to within one, 20-19. The Cyclones and Defenders continued to battle before a service error by Clarks Summit gave the Cyclones a 25-23 set win.
A service ace from Logan allowed the Cyclones to open an 8-5 advantage in the third set. A pair of service aces from Pagano helped Centenary push its lead to 17-9. An attack error by Clarks Summit allowed the Cyclones to close out the match with a 25-17 set win.
Fulcher finished with a match-high nine kills on nine attempts for the Cyclones while Simpson added six kills and four service aces. Pagano dished out 15 assists while
Martina Josifoska had 16 digs.
Melanie Stabler had 14 digs for the Defenders.
Centenary is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 1 when it opens Atlantic East Conference play with a tri-match. The Cyclones will take on Gwynedd Mercy and Marymount in Virginia starting at 2 p.m.
