Second Half Goal Lifts Delaware Valley Over Men's Soccer, 2-1

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – In a back-and-forth battle, Delaware Valley was able to slip a second half goal into the back-of-net and secure a 2-1 win over the Centenary University men's soccer team on Saturday afternoon.

Dan Arone opened up the scoring for the Delaware Valley Aggies in the 34th minute with a bullet into the far corner.

The Cyclones quickly responded with a goal by James Alain in the 36th minute. Alain's first goal as a Cyclone came off a header from a cross off the defender in the box.

The Cyclones and the Aggies went into half-time tied 1-1. Centenary's goalie Kevin Velasquez Mejia had six saves in the half. Matt Paterno and Brian Osorio both put two shots on goal but it wasn't enough to get passed Aggies' goalie Andrew Roberto who finished the game with five saves.

Both teams battled back and forth but Aggies came out on top as Brandon Fornwall found the back of the net in the 79th minute for the 2-1 Delaware Valley lead.

The Cyclones continued to push but were unable to get the equalizer.

It's a quick turnaround for the Cyclones as they host Stockton on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 1 p.m.
