Lenahan and Passanante Lead No. 6 Softball to 1-1 Record in Atlantic East Playoff Action

SCRANTON, Pa. -The top three batters in the No. 6 Centenary University softball line-up combined for eight hits and nine RBIs to lead the Cyclones to a 12-8 win over No. 4 Neumann University in Atlantic East Tournament Pod A play on Friday.

Earlier in the day, the Cyclones fell to No. 1 Marywood by a 13-0 margin.

With the win over Neumann, the Cyclones advance to day two of pod action and will face the Pacers again on Saturday morning at 10 a.m.

Game One Recap (No. 1 Marywood Won 13-0):
The Pacers took an early lead in this one with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. Nina Kozar had an RBI triple and later came around to score.

Both teams settled in after that and the score remained 2-0 in favor of the home team until the bottom of the fourth.

Marywood was able to break things open with an 11 run fourth inning. Brooke McKay launched a three-run home run in that inning while Kozar had a two-run single.

Marywood claimed the 13-0 victory.

Mara Hamm picked up the win as she allowed just two hits in five innings of action. Julia Campen suffered the loss for the Cyclones as she surrendered 13 runs, four of which were earned, on 14 hits in 3.2 innings of work.

Kozar had two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored for Marywood while Hamm added two hits and three RBIs.

Madison Passanante and Jenna Glinko each had base knocks for the Cyclones.

Game Two Recap (No. 6 Centenary Won 12-8):
Centenary jumped out to an early lead in the second game as Passanante's sac fly in the first inning scored Maggie Lenahan.

Neumann responded with a four-spot in the top of the second and took a 4-1 lead.

Centenary went right back to work and tied the game up with three runs in the bottom of the second. Lenahan had a two-run double and Passanante plated Lenahan with her double.

The Knights took a 6-4 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the third.

Centenary had a big third inning as the Cyclones sent 11 batters to the plate and scored five runs on five hits. The Cyclones took a 9-6 lead when the final out was put on the board. Jenna Garofalo, Courtney Deloughery and Passanante all had RBI singles in the frame.

The Cyclones tacked on three more runs in the fourth for a 12-6 advantage in the contest. Sandra Cosenzo scored on a wild pitch while Lenahan and Passanante added RBI singles.

Neumann put single runs on the board in the sixth and seventh innings but that was all the Knights could manage and Centenary claimed the 12-8 win.

Roxana Gonzalez earned the win for the Cyclones as she gave up seven runs on 10 hits in five innings. Olivia Ammon took the loss for Neumann as she gave up eight runs on 10 hits in 2.1 innings.

Lenahan finished 3-for-5 with four RBIs and four runs scored for the Cyclones while Passanante was 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Chloe Wright was 3-for-3 with three runs scored while Deloughery had two hits and an RBI.

Centenary is back in action when it visits Marywood on Saturday, April 30 at 10 a.m.
