RADNOR, Pa. – The Centenary University softball fell to Cabrini University in Atlantic East Conference action on Friday afternoon.
The Cavaliers used a no-hitter from
Avery Byrnes and a big fifth inning to claim a 10-0 win in game-one.
Chloe Wright had an RBI single for the Cyclones in game-two but it was not enough as Cabrini claimed the 9-1 win.
Game One Recap (Cabrini Won 10-0):
Cabrini jumped out to an early lead in this one as
Kaitlyn Martin hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first.
Madison Passanante reached after being hit by a pitch to start the second for the Cyclones but was stranded there.
Cabrini scored eight runs in the fifth to close out the 10-0 win. The big blow in that inning came off the bat of
Emily Wargo, who it a three-run home run.
Byrnes had 10 strikeouts in her five innings of work for Cabrini and picked up her 10th win of the season.
Julia Campen took the loss for Centenary as she gave up two runs on four hits in an inning of action.
Martin led Cabrini at the plate as she was 3-for-3 with 4 RBIs and two runs scored.
Game Two Recap (Cabrini Won 9-1):
Cabrini scored a run in the first and tacked on two more in the second for the early 3-0 lead in the contest.
The Cyclones broke through for a run in the fourth inning of this one. Passanante was hit by a pitch leading off the frame. She was replaced by pinch-runner
Dara Murphy, who was sacrificed to second by
Jenna Glinko. Murphy came around to touch the dish on a single by Wright down the right field line.
Cabrini added five runs in the bottom of the fifth and one in the sixth to secure the 9-1 victory.
Kelsey Huling hit a grand slam to highlight the action for the Cavaliers.
Sammi Sisolak earned the win in the circle for the Cavaliers as she went all six innings and allowed one run on eight hits with three strikeouts. Campen suffered the loss as she went 1.2 innings and gave up six runs on seven hits.
Huling had one hit, four RBIs and two runs scored for Cabrini while Wargo added two hits, two runs scored and an RBI.
Wright was a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI for the Cyclones while
Maggie Lenahan added two hits.
Centenary is right back at it when it hosts Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday, April 23 at 12 p.m.
