IMMACULATA, Pa. – Brandon Smith had a pair of hits to lead the Centenary University baseball team in a loss at Immaculata University on Friday afternoon in Atlantic East Conference action.
Immaculata used two RBIs each from Jason Smiley and Steven Theisen to claim the 8-0 win.
The Mighty Macs scored a single run in the second, third and fourth innings to claim the early 3-0 lead in in this one. Joey Sacco had an RBI double and scored a run in that stretch.
Centenary had its chances early in this one as the visitors had a runner reach second base in each of the first four innings but could not find a way to him all the way home.
Immaculata added a handful of runs late, including two in the seventh and two in the eighth for the 8-0 victory.
Jason Hughes picked up his fifth win of the season for the Mighty Macs. He went seven innings and allowed five hits while striking out seven. Nick Guiro took the loss for the Cyclones as he went 3.2 innings and surrendered three runs on seven hits.
Smiley had three hits and the two RBIs for the Mighty Macs while Theisen finished with two hits and two RBIs.
Smith had the two hits for the Cyclones while Nick Payne added a hit and a walk in the contest.
Centenary and Immaculata conclude their series tomorrow, Saturday, April 23 when they play a doubleheader at Our Diamond of Dreams starting at 12 p.m.
