IMMACULATA, Pa. –
Courtney Deloughery,
Jenna Glinko and
Madison Passanante all drove in two runs in game two to lead the Centenary University softball team to a doubleheader split at Immaculata University in Atlantic East action on Saturday.
The Mighty Macs claimed a 3-1 win in game-one while Centenary snapped an eight-game losing streak in a big way with a 7-2 victory in game-two.
Game One Recap (Immaculata Won 3-1):
The Mighty Macs wasted little time in grabbing the early lead in this one with a run in the bottom of the first.
Cat Knoll reached on a fielders choice that allowed
Bryele Anthony to score.
Centenary tied things up at 1-1 in the top of the third.
Toni Cacopardo stroked a single to center that allowed Deloughery to touch the plate.
Immaculata responded by putting two on the board in the bottom half of the third. Anthony scored on an error before
Kaitlyn Carter came across the dish on a sac fly.
That 3-1 margin proved to be enough as the home team claimed the win.
Sarah Guido earned the win as she gave up just one run on eight hits and struck out two.
Julia Campen took the loss after giving up three runs on six hits and striking out three.
Anthony had two hits and two runs scored for Immaculata.
Maggie Lenahan had a pair of hits for the Cyclones.
Game Two Recap (Centenary Won 7-2):
Game two saw the Cyclones get off to a fast start with three runs in the top of the first. Deloughery plated Lenahan with her single and came around to score on Glinko's RBI base knock.
Sandra Cosenzo drove in the third run with an RBI groundout.
Centenary pushed its lead to 4-0 with an RBI base hit from Glinko in the top of the second.
The Cyclones put three more on the board in the third for a 7-0 advantage. Passanante drove a two-out two run home run to centerfield. It was the freshman's first career home run. The Cyclones added another run on Deloughery's RBI single.
Immaculata plated two runs in the bottom of the third but that was all the Mighty Macs would get as Centenary secured the 7-2 win.
Campen got the win in relief as she went the final 4.2 innings and gave up just two hits.
Emma Mercadante took the loss after giving up four runs on four hits in two innings.
Deloughery and Glinko each had two hits and two RBIs while Deloughery also scored a run. Lenahan was 3-for-3 with two runs scored while Passanante had a hit, two RBIs and a run scored.
Jess Oldham had two hits and a run scored for Immaculata.
Centenary is back in action on Wednesday, Apr. 6 when it hosts Drew at 3 p.m.
