HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Centenary University softball team fell in Atlantic East Conference doubleheader action against Neumann University on Tuesday afternoon.
The Knights took game-one by a 7-2 score despite two hits apiece from
Chloe Wright and
Maggie Lenahan. Neumann wrapped up the day with a 9-2 victory in game-two.
Game One Recap (Neumann Won 7-2):
The Cyclones got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the third.
Toni Cacopardo had a single through the left side that plated
Courtney Deloughery. She had reached on a two-out single.
Neumann responded with three runs in the top of the fourth and took a two-run lead. The big blow in that frame came from
Christina Ludovico, who had a two-run single.
Centenary got one of those runs back in the bottom half of that frame. Lenahan singled home Wright which made it a 3-2 game.
Neumann extended its lead to 4-2 in the top of the fifth.
The visitors tacked on three more runs in the top of the seventh for a 7-2 victory.
Ashlynne Scardino earned the win for Neumann as she went all seven innings and surrendered just two runs on seven hits while striking out six.
Julia Campen suffered the loss as she gave up three runs on six hits in 3.2 innings of action.
Ludovico had three hits and three RBIs for Neumann in the game.
Lenahan and Wright each had two hits for the Cyclones. Lenahan had an RBI while Wright had a run scored.
Game Two Recap (Neumann Won 9-2):
Neumann grabbed an early lead in this one with two runs in the first and another one in the top of the second.
Centenary got one back and made it a 3-1 game with a run in the bottom of the second.

Neumann continued to increase its advantage. The Knights scored one in the fourth, two in the fifth and three in the sixth for a 9-1 advantage.
Centenary got a run in the bottom of the sixth as Wright's single through the right side allowed Cacopardo to cross the dish. That was unfortunately all the Cyclones could manage as Neumann claimed the 9-2 win.
Olivia Ammon earned the game two win for the Knights she went seven innings and gave up two runs on five hits.
Roxana Gonzalez took the loss for the Cyclones after giving up two runs on five hits in 0.2 innings.
Maddie Tice finished with three hits, two RBIs and two runs scored for Neumann.
Wright and Passanante had a hit and an RBI each for the Cyclones.
Centenary is back in action on Wednesday, Apr. 13 when it hosts Drew at 3 p.m.
