MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Centenary University softball team battled for a split of its two games on Wednesday at the Fastpitch Spring Dreams Classic in Myrtle Beach.
Salem used a sixth inning run to break a 4-4 tie and claim a 5-4 win over the Cyclones in the first game. Centenary used a big first and third inning to claim a 10-2 victory versus Penn State Mont Alton in game two.
Second baseman
Courtney Deloughery reached a career milestone in the Salem game as she recorded the 100th hit of her career.
Salem Recap (Salem Won 5-4):
Centenary got off to the quick start in this one with a pair of runs in the top of the first. Deloughery scored on an error that allowed centerfielder
Maggie Lenahan to reach. Lenahan then came home on shortstop
Madison Passanante's infield single.
Salem answered back with three runs in the bottom of the second.
Centenary tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the fifth as Passanante reached on an error that allowed Deloughery to score.
Salem went back on top, 4-3 in the bottom half of that frame.
The Cyclones once again found a way to deadlock the game at 4-4 in the top of the sixth. Leftfielder

Toni Cacopardo was able to score on the play.
Salem again had the answer as
Faythe Bowles' RBI single in the bottom of the sixth gave the Spirits a 5-4 edge.
Centenary was unable to get anything going in the top of the seventh and Salem claimed the win.
Madison Thomas earned the win in the circle as she gave up four runs on seven hits in the complete game effort.
Julia Campen took the loss for the Cyclones as she surrendered two runs on nine hits in 4.3 innings of relief work.
Thomas also added two hits and two RBIs for Salem.
Deloughery had two hits, including the 100th of her career, and two runs scored for the Cyclones.
PSU Mont Alto Recap (Centenary Won 10-2):
The Cyclones wasted little time in putting four runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning. The big blow of the inning came from Cacopardo, who had a two-run single. Designated player

Sandra Cosenzo also added RBI singles.
The Nittany Lions added single runs in the top of the second and third innings which made it a 4-2 game.
Centenary then exploded for six runs in the bottom of the third and a 10-2 advantage on the scoreboard. Lenahan delivered a base clearing double in the inning for the Cyclones. Glinko and Cacopardo each added an RBI base knock in the inning as well.
Campen and
Chloe Wright shut down the Nittany Lions in the fourth and fifth innings to secure the win.
Campen earned the win in relief with 2.1 innings of work as she gave up one run on three hits.
MacKenzie Stake took the loss for PSU Mont Alto took the loss after giving up four runs on four hits in 0.1 innings.
Deloughery, Cacopardo and Glinko all had two hits apiece to lead the Cyclones. Deloughery added two runs scored while Glinko had two RBIs and a run scored. Cacopardo finished with three RBIs and a run scored.
Centenary is back in action on Friday, March 11 when it faces Cazenovia (9:30 a.m.) and St. Joseph's Brooklyn (1:30 p.m.).
