HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. –
Toni Cacopardo had three RBIs to lead the Centenary University softball team in Atlantic East doubleheader action against Marywood on Saturday afternoon.
Marywood used four late runs to break a 3-3 tie and claim a 7-3 win in game-one. The Pacers took a 3-0 lead in game-two and secured the 7-4 victory.
Game One Recap (Marywood Won 7-3):
Marywood put two on the board in the top of the first and added one in the second for the 3-0 lead in this one.
Centenary responded with a three run fourth inning and tied the game. With two on and one out, Cacopardo delivered a single to left that scored
Maggie Lenahan.
Yvanna Germosen was able to cross the plate on a wild pitch in the frame while Cacopardo touched home on
Sandra Cosenzo's sac fly to right.
The Pacers took the lead back with a run in the top of the fifth.
Cait Becher roped an RBI double to left in the frame.
Marywood tacked on three runs in the top of the sixth and secured the 7-3 win.
Mara Hamm tossed a complete game to secure the win for Marywood. She allowed just three runs on five hits in the contest.
Julia Campen took the loss after giving up seven runs in the complete game effort.
Lindsey Jason went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI for Marywood.
Cacopardo had a hit, a run scored and an RBI for the Cyclones.
Game Two Recap (Marywood Won 7-4):
Marywood once again struck first in this one as the Pacers scored two in the second and one in the third for the early 3-0 lead.
Centenary got one back in the fourth as Cacopardo stroked a double to left that scored
Madison Passanante.
The Pacers put three on the board in the top of the sixth for a for a 6-1 lead in the top of the sixth.
In the bottom half of that frame, the Cyclones manufactured two runs. Cacopardo singled home Passanante and came around to score on
Chloe Wright's RBI base knock.
Marywood added a run in the top of the seventh and took a 7-3 lead in the game.
The Cyclones weren't not done yet as Lenahan plated
Courtney Deloughery with her double to left in the seventh. That made it a 7-4 game; however the Pacers were able to get the final outs and secure the win.
Gianna Marsico earned the win after giving up four runs on 10 hits in the circle.
Roxana Gonzalez suffered the loss for the Cyclones as she gave up seven runs on 10 hits.
Abbey Stalter had three hits and three RBIs for Marywood.
Cacopardo had two hits, two RBIs and a run scored for the Cyclones while Passanante had two hits and two runs scored.
Centenary is back in action when it hosts Keystone on Thursday, Mar. 31 at 3 p.m.
