MAHWAH, N.J. –
Zaairah Lamothe scored a pair of goals to lead the Centenary University women's lacrosse team in its season opener at Ramapo College on Wednesday.
The Roadrunners jumped out to a 12-0 lead at the half and secured a 19-3 victory over the Cyclones.
Colleen Mason had six goals and two assists in the first 30 minutes of the game to help the home team gain the early advantage.
Lamothe got the third period scoring started with her goal at the 12:41 mark.
Amanda Tietjen found the back of the net at 7:20 of that period for the Cyclones as well.
Lamothe scored one more time in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring for the visitors.
Alyssa Curto made three saves to earn the win in goal for Ramapo.
Jenyfer Pereira started the game for Centenary and made six saves.
Chloe Neubauer played the second half for the Cyclones and made four stops.
Mason led Ramapo with eight goals and three assists for 11 points while
Kelly Griffin added two goals, three assists and four draw controls.
Lamothe added three draw controls and two caused turnovers to go with her two goals.
Kristin Bell contributed three caused turnovers and two draw controls while
Sara Brotons had two ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Centenary is back in action on Saturday, Mar. 26 when it hosts Eastern Mennonite at 12 p.m. in its home opener.
