Women's Basketball Falls on Senior Day

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. - Senior Victoria Jacobs and junior Carmen Escano combined for 21 points as the Centenary University women's basketball team fell to Immaculata University, 86-47 in their final regular season game on Saturday.
 
Before the contest, Centenary honored their seven seniors: Meghan Barone, Taylor Bossert, Danika Brandt, Molly Collins, Jacobs, Jessica McKenzie, and Carly Tarnowski. 
 
At the 7:05 mark of the first quarter, Brandt put the Cyclones on the board and cut the Immaculata lead in half, 4-2.
 
Sophomore Salma Eddahiri drove down the court and pulled Centenary to within three points, 14-11 off a good layup with 2:33 showing on the clock.
 
Closing out the first quarter, Bossert powered down the court and scored at the 0:01 mark. Immaculata led 18-16 going into the second
 
Immaculata scored the opening 12 points of the second quarter which pushed their lead to 30-16 with 6:04 to go in the half.
 
Collins answered with a good three-pointer at 5:14 and cut Immaculata's lead to 11 with a score of 30-19.
 
The Mighty Macs closed out the half with a 43-23 lead.
 
The Cyclones opened the third and scored 7 out of the first 12 points. Immaculata led 48-30 with 6:35 left on the clock in the third quarter.
 
Immaculata outscored the Cyclones in the remainder of the third 21-6 and closed out the third quarter with a score of 69-36.
 
As the fourth quarter got underway, Immaculata outscored Centenary 17-11. Jacobs scored five points with one assist in the final quarter.
 
The Mighty Macs eventually closed out the 86-47 win. 
 
Centenary shot 32.8% from the floor and went 7-for-13 from the foul line. Immaculata shot 53.1% from the floor and went 8-for-10 from the foul line. The Mighty Macs won the rebounding game 38-34. 
 
Abigail Lentowski led Immaculata with 18 points and had 2 rebounds.
 
Jacobs and Escano each added five rebounds to go with their 11 and 10 points respectively.
 
The Cyclones will battle the Mighty Macs in the first round of the Atlantic East Tournament on Monday, Feb. 21.
