Women's Basketball Wins Second Straight Versus Rutgers-Newark

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J.- Centenary Women's Basketball defeated Rutgers-Newark on Monday evening, 57-45. With the victory, the Lady Clones improve to 7-4 on the season. 

The Law Firm of Opdyke, Escano and Elsbree
Centenary's three-headed monster combined for 44 of the teams 57-points. Junior Brie Opdyke led the way with 19-points and 8 rebounds. Senior Carmen Escano ended the night with 14-points, 8 rebounds and three assists. Dishing out 3 apples to Opdyke late in the fourth to seal the victory. Sophomore Kaylie Elsbree had one of her best nights of the year, going 4-of-6 from the field and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc for 11-points. She also added 7 rebounds on the night. 

The Even Quarters
The defense was the difference for Centenary, as the Cyclones held RNU to eight points in the second and fourth quarters. That's 16 total points over 20-minutes of play. 

Turnover Machine
Pressure most of the game caused the Clones to force 27 Raider turnovers and collect 16 steals. Freshman counterparts Elainy Pichardo and Kayla Sampong led the way with 3 steals apiece.

Centenary returns to the floor after a holiday layover on December 30 when they travel to Keystone College for a 4pm tip-off.
