Flores Helps Women's Soccer Battle for 2-2 Tie at Marymount

ARLINGTON, Va. – Liliana Flores had a goal and assist to lead a second half comeback as the Centenary University women's soccer team battled for a 2-2 tie at Marymount University in Atlantic East play on Saturday.

Marymount got on the board first in this one as an own goal at 2:39 gave the home team a 1-0 advantage.

The Saints added to their lead with just under 10 minutes until the half. Laney Placido was able to capitalize on a pass from Hanna Asanovich at 35:12.

Marymount carried that 2-0 lead into the break despite five first half saves from Chelsea Estacio.

Centenary applied the pressure to start the second half and was able to cut the deficit in half at 53:31. Flores was able to score off a pass from Brelyn Cusano for her team leading fifth goal of the season.

Just about five and a half minutes later, the Cyclones were able to tie the game at 2-2. This time it was Flores hitting Blaise Vallorosi for the goal. It was Vallorosi's fourth tally of the season.

Both teams had their chances down the stretch but neither was able to convert and the game ended in a hard-fought 2-2 tie.

Estacio finished with six saves for the Cyclones while Hannah Mockenhaupt made four saves for the Saints.

Centenary is back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 12 as it travels to Cabrini for a 7 p.m. game.
