ASTON, Pa. –
Chelsea Estacio made five saves, but a first half goal proved to be the difference as Neumann University was able to claim a 1-0 victory over the Centenary University women's soccer team in the regular season finale for both squads.
The Cyclones got off to a quick start with shots from
Liliana Flores and
Eve Haddad but the shots were wide.
Estacio made a couple of early saves for Centenary.
Neumann finally broke through at 18:43 as
Rebecca Spence found the back of the net off a pass from
Jaclyn Burmood.
Neumann continued to pressure the Cyclones but another save from Estacio sent the two teams into the half with the Knights leading 1-0.
The Cyclones and Knights continued to battle throughout the second half but neither team was able to find the back of the net.
Estacio made two more saves while
Brelyn Cusano got off a shot that was turned away by
Leona Macrina.
Neumann earned the 1-0 victory.
Macrina made the one save to earn the win in goal for the Knights. Estacio had five saves for the Cyclones.
Centenary earned the fourth seed for the upcoming Atlantic East Tournament. The Cyclones will host No. 5 Marymount on Monday, Oct. 31.
