Men's Soccer Battles for 5-0 Road Win at Gwynedd Mercy

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. – Besnik Hadzovic's first half goal gave the Centenary University men's soccer team the early advantage en route to a 5-0 victory at Gwynedd Mercy University in Atlantic East play on Wednesday.

Centenary came out applying the pressure early in this one and it paid off at the 9:53 mark as Hadzovic scored off a pass from Andres Casanova.

That was the only goal of the first half as the visitors carried the 1-0 lead into the half.

The Cyclones continued to battle and took advantage of their opportunities in the second 45 minutes.

At 60:45, Matt Paterno scored off a pass from Brian Osorio. It was Paterno's second goal of the season.

Centenary made it a 3-0 game as Casanova found the back of the net at 74:00.

Just 2:23 later, Kenneth Pinedo scored off a nifty feed from Kevin Lopez.

The Cyclones capped the scoring with a goal from Julian Lippner at 88:37. Rich O'Brien picked up his first career point with an assist on Lippner's tally.

Centenary claimed the 5-0 victory.

Kevin Velasquez Mejia saved the only shot he saw to record the shutout. Shaine Kirby made nine saves in the loss for the Griffins.

Centenary is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 22 when it travels to Immaculata for a 1 p.m. game.
