HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Goalkeepers
Rachel Colt and
Chelsea Estacio combined for 10 saves as the Centenary University women's soccer suffered a hard fought 1-0 loss to Cedar Crest College on Wednesday night at Hackettstown High School.
Both teams had their chances in the first 45 minutes of action but neither was able to find the back-of-the net.
Colt, who earned the start in cage, came out to meet several Falcons head on and made the stop on those plays.
The Cyclones forced Cedar Crest keeper
Lauren Makely to make three saves in the first 45 minutes.
The two teams continued to battle to start the second period. Centenary put up a couple of quick shots but they were turned away.
Cedar Crest finally broke through with a goal in the 63rd minute.
Adrianna Tennis redirected a ball off a corner kick into the box and
Erika D'Angelo was able to poke it home for the 1-0 advantage.
Both teams continued to push but neither was able to score and Cedar Crest claimed the 1-0 win.
Makely finished with nine saves to earn the win in goal for Cedar Crest. Colt finished with five first half saves. Estacio made five saves but surrendered the second half goal.
The Cyclones will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 2 when Atlantic East Conference play gets underway. Centenary hosts Marymount at 1 p.m.
