Men's Soccer Tripped Up by Hood

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J.Nik Polizos and Mahir Yilmaz registered shots on goal in the second half but it was not enough as the Centenary University men's soccer team fell to Hood College, 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams had their chances early in this one but it was Hood breaking through with the goal from Luke Hammer at 17:29.

The Cyclones and Blazers continued to battle but neither team was able to find the back of the net and Hood took the 1-0 lead at the break.

Polizos put a pair of shots on goal in the first five minutes of the second half but Hood keeper Danny Castillo was able to stop both.

The two teams continued to go back-and-forth before Hood added to its lead in the 86th minute. Jaylen Poisal scored off a pass from Paul Hagen for the 2-0 advantage.

Hood claimed the 2-0 win.

Castillo made four saves to earn the shutout win for Hood. Paul LiTrenta made four saves in the loss for the Cyclones.

The Cyclones are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 29 when they visit Clarks Summit for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
