Glinko and Cacopardo Power Softball to Doubleheader Sweep of Clarks Summit

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Designated player Jenna Glinko had six RBIs in the two games combined and catcher Toni Cacopardo had four RBIs in game two to lead the Centenary University softball team to a doubleheader sweep of Clarks Summit University on Thursday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

The Cyclones scored at least one run in all five innings of game one and claimed the 9-1 victory. An eight-run bottom of the fourth propelled Centenary to a 13-3 win in game two.

The Cyclones saw a career milestone reached in game one as Jessica Hewitt recorded her 100th career hit in the bottom of the fourth.

"We are always happy to come away with four wins in two days," said head coach Kim Broking. "But we know we still have plenty of games left to play and we are grateful to be out on the field and playing."

Game One Recap (Cyclones win 9-1): Clarks Summit got the scoring started in game one with a run in the top of the first.

The Cyclones (4-2, 4-0 CSAC) answered right back with two of their own in the bottom half of the frame. Shortstop Tessa Ferentinos reached on an error that allowed left fielder Janaya Gaetan to score. Ferentinos later touched the plate on center fielder Maggie Lenahan's base knock.

Centenary increased its lead to 3-1 with a run in the bottom of the second.

The Cyclones then put four on the board in their half of the third inning. Glinko and third baseman Chloe Wright both contributed RBI singles and both players crossed the dish on right fielder Rhiannon Ginnetti's single to left field.

Leading 7-1 in the contest, the Cyclones tacked on single runs in the fourth and fifth innings for a 9-1 victory.

Roxanna Gonzalez went the first 3.1 innings for the Cyclones and allowed just one unearned run to pick up the victory. Samantha Gabriele pitched the final 1.2 innings and did not allow a hit. Mara Marshall Leroy took the loss for Clarks Summit after giving up eight runs on 10 hits in four innings.

Glinko had two hits and two RBIs for the Cyclones while Ginnetti also had two RBIs. Second baseman Courtney Deloughery had three hits in the contest and scored a pair of runs.

Game Two Recap (Cyclones Win 13-3): Clarks Summit again got on the board first in this one with a run in the top of the first.
