Softball Battles for Doubleheader Split with Rosemont

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Centenary University softball team battled for a doubleheader split with Rosemont College on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

The Cyclones extended their win streak to five straight with a 5-1 victory in game one. The Ravens used a big first inning to claim an 11-3 win in game two.

Game One Recap (Centenary Wins 5-1): Rosemont struck first in this one as Analisa Yoder had an RBI double in the top of the third inning.

Centenary responded with three runs of its own in the bottom of the fourth. Designated player Jenna Glinko stroked an RBI triple to left field while catcher Toni Cacopardo added an RBI double in the frame.

The Cyclones added a run in the fifth and increased its lead to 4-1.

Cacopardo had an RBI single in the sixth which allowed the home team to take a 5-1 advantage.

A scoreless top of the seventh allowed the Cyclones to secure the 5-1 victory.

Jessica Hewitt picked up the win in relief as she went the final four innings and allowed just two hits while striking out three. Dani Sharpe took the loss after giving up five runs in six innings.

Cacopardo was 3-for-3 with two RBIs for the Cyclones while Hewitt and third baseman Courtney Deloughery each added two hits and a run scored.

Yoder had two hits and an RBI for Rosemont.

Game Two Recap (Rosemont Wins 11-3): Rosemont put up 10 runs in the top of the first to grab an early advantage in game two. Rachel Beall had four RBIs in the inning, including a bases clearing double. Emily Bingman added two RBIs in the frame.

Centenary got two runs back in the bottom of the third. Deloughery lifted a sac fly to center before Glinko delivered an RBI single.

The Cyclones made it a 10-3 game in the bottom of the fourth as Glinko added her second RBI single of the contest.

Rosemont put one more run on the board in the top of the sixth and claimed the 11-3 victory.

Beall picked up the win on the mound as she started and did not allow a run. Julia Campen took the loss after giving up three runs on two hits.

Beall had two hits and four RBIs for Rosemont.

Glinko had two hits, two RBIs and also reached via a walk for the Cyclones.

Centenary is back in action on Tuesday, April 13 when it travels to Keystone for a doubleheader at 3 p.m.
