Softball Tripped Up at Cedar Crest

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Second baseman Courtney Deloughery posted a pair of hits in both games to lead the Centenary University softball team in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) doubleheader action at Cedar Crest College.

Centenary outhit the Falcons in game one but Cedar Crest pushed three runs across the plate, for the 3-0 victory. With game two tied at 3-3, Cedar Crest scored three in the bottom of the sixth inning for the 6-3 win.

Game One Recap (Cedar Crest Wins 3-0): Cedar Crest broke through for a run in the bottom of the second on an RBI single from Riley Tremblay.

Centenary's best chance in the game came in the top of the sixth as they loaded the bases on three singles but the Falcons were able to get the final out of the frame to keep the visitors off the board.

The Falcons tacked on two more runs in the bottom half of that frame. Patricia Dalton had an RBI single in the inning before a second run scored on a passed ball.

Centenary was unable to get anything going in the top of the seventh and Cedar Crest claimed the 3-0 win.

Skyler Bilous earned the win after tossing a complete game effort and striking out two. Roxana Gonzalez took the loss for the Cyclones, giving up three runs and striking out five in the complete game.

Dalton had two hits, one run scored and one RBI for the Falcons.

Deloughery had the two hits for the Cyclones.

Game Two Recap (Cedar Crest Wins 6-3): The Falcons built a lead over the first five innings with single runs in the second, third and fifth innings.

The Cyclones finally broke through on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth. Back-to-back singles put runners on first and second with no outs. Designated player Jenna Glinko then delivered an RBI single to center to make it a 3-1 game.

Deloughery scored on a fielders choice to make a 3-2 game before third baseman Chloe Wright's RBI single tied it up.

Cedar Crest answered back with three runs in the bottom half of that frame. Delaney Vanbuskirk had a two-run single in the inning.

Centenary put two runners on in the top of the seventh but could not get either across the plate and Cedar Crest earned the 6-3 win.

Breanna Young got the win in the circle for the Falcons. She gave up three runs on nine hits in the complete game effort. Jessica Hewitt took the loss for the Cyclones as she surrendered four runs on nine hits in three innings of relief work.

Vanbuskirk went 3-for-4 with three RBIs for the Falcons.

Deloughery and center fielder Tessa Ferentinos each had two hits and a run scored for the Cyclones. Wright had two hits and an RBI.

The Cyclones are back in action tomorrow as they travel to Wilson for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
