BRYN ATHYN, PA. – Midfielder
Keirra Doyle had a goal and an assist to lead the Centenary University women's lacrosse team in their season opener at Bryn Athyn College on Sunday afternoon.
Bryn Athyn jumped out to an 8-2 lead at the half and claimed a 16-3 victory.
The Lions struck first in the contest with a goal from
Tori Titano at 28:25.
The Cyclones tallied the equalizer just 6:04 later as attacker
Madison Barofski cut through traffic for the goal.
Bryn Athyn scored the next four goals and took a 5-1 lead with 11:03 left in the half.
Doyle found the back of the net at 9:55 to make it a 5-2 game.
The Lions scored the final three goals of the half and took an 8-2 lead at the break.
Centenary struck first in the second as Doyle hit attacker
Christine Manser with a pass. Manser buried it home and made it an 8-3 game.
Bryn Athyn scored the final eight goals of the game for the 16-3 win.
Jenessa Lombardi made five saves to earn the win in goal for Bryn Athyn.
Jenyfer Pereira picked up eight saves in the loss for the Cyclones.
Payton Gormley led Bryn Athyn with eight goals and one assist and added four ground balls.
Nicole McCurdy added one goal, four assists and eight draw controls.
Doyle added three ground balls and two caused turnovers to go with her goal and assist for the Cyclones. Midfielder
Kristin Bell had a team-high four draw controls.
The Cyclones will be back in action on Saturday, April 3 when they host Wilson at 1 p.m.
