HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Goalkeeper
Andrew Tarkazikis made nine saves but Immaculata University scored a goal in each half and defeated the Centenary University men's soccer team 2-0 in Atlantic East play on Saturday afternoon.
Immaculata broke through in the fourth minute of the game as
Matthew Armas was able to head home a ball off a corner kick opportunity.
Centenary had four first half shots on goal, including two from
Nik Polizos but
Garrett Pepper was able to turn them away and maintain the visitors' 1-0 lead.
Both teams had their chances early in the second half but it was Immaculata adding to its lead in the 79th minute as
Oldy Dielce made a long run in beating a defender and the keeper for the 2-0 advantage.
That proved to be enough as Immaculata claimed the 2-0 victory.
Pepper finished with six saves to secure the win for Immaculata. Tarkazikis made six in the second half and finished with nine for the Cyclones.
Centenary is back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 12 when it travels to Neumann for a 4 p.m. game.
