ASTON, Pa. – A strong second half lifted Neumann University over the Centenary University men's soccer team by a 6-0 score on Tuesday afternoon in Atlantic East Conference play.
The first half was a back and forth affair as both teams had chances early.
Eric Nugent needed just 1:33 to fire off a shot that required
Seth Walker to make the save.
Sophomore
Nick Lupo made a pair of saves in the first 20+ minutes of the game for the Cyclones.
Neumann finally broke through in the 29th minute as
Alex Lopez-Luna put a high shot in and it was able to sneak just under the crossbar for the goal.
The two teams continued to battle as the home side took the 1-0 lead at the half.
Neumann scored five times in the second half to secure the 6-0 victory.
Sam Clavijo scored a pair of goals while
Marlon Trejo had a goal and an assist during that stretch.
Walker played the first 82:16 for Neumann and made one save to secure the win in goal.
Matt Randall was not forced to make a save in relief. Lupo earned the start and made five saves for the Cyclones. Senior
Paul LiTrenta played the final 17:33 between the pipes and made four saves.
Centenary is back in action when it travels to DeSales on Saturday, Oct. 16 for a 2 p.m. game.
